HELP!!! Distraction and some awesome reviews!!!!!

Mon Jan 19, 2009, 12:53 PM
I should sooo totally be revising for my A levels on thursday and friday, I've done next to nothing to revise- I'm so going to fail! But I can't help but distract myself...I came on the internet to ind some information on the Galapagos, but like always I end up on DevART...! They should have a "no coming on here when you have exams" policy, right?!

Does ANYONE have any useful tricks for revising, because I find it sooo difficult to find a method that works for me- hopeless. Please, can anyone help??!!

OK so, who else freaking LOVES Name of the Wind?!!
I literally cannot wait to read the next one, it's the best book I've read in a while. The characters, the story, the drama, the reader-empathy, the humour, the world-building...all amazing. Rothfuss is a true master of novel writing, right?!
I mean, not to say it didn't have some loopholes and confusing inconsistencies, but they aren't plot changing. One thing I will say is that it was sooo long!I've read books with +600 pages before, but have you SEEN the font-size?! Also, I read one review and I hate to agree with her but, it does kind of feel like a MASSIVE set up for the next 2 books- a 600 page prologue...
For those who have not read it yet, I would recommend it if you love fantasies that you can get lost in and characters you can truly, truly believe and books that are written for the sake of being written rather than to spin money or propagate a brand.
For those who have read it, well done and I'm sure you'll agree with me! ;) I'd love to hear Your thoughts on the novel/upcoming trilogy...

Also, I saw Slumdog Millionaire the other week- also recommended 1000%!! The best film I've seen in a long time (and trust me...I've seen a LOT of films, the only thing I would critise is the ending (a little uncharacteristically corny) but still a very good way to end the film, wraps it all up nicely...
See this film if you love to examine different cultures and a whole alternative way of life. Truly fascinating insight, and really absorbing and funny and heart-warming. See it! Or I will hunt you down and gut you like a fish (...then put you back together and make you watch it and give you a cup of tea because I'd feel bad for cutting you up...)!!

Anyone have any thoughts about that Will Smith film, Seven Pounds. I really disliked it personally, but what do you think of it..?

Most of my journals end up being reviews for stuff. LOL. Laters!!

p.s. Couldn't find the appropriate icon for my mood, so this one looked quite like "distracted"...let's pretend... =D

  • Mood: Mesmerized

OK so didn't do as well as I hoped or expected in my AS levels:
Biology=B
RE=B
Geography=C
Chemistry=D.
But oh well, at least I'm going back next year. Must pull my socks up from now on.

Also, I am now a massive Death note fan. Watched all the anime, and the films (I think L: change the WorLd is better than the actual death note films, anyone agree?) and read the manga all in a week!! it is un-put-downable, and...well...awesome!! I couldn't decide if I liked Light or not until he killed L, then I hated him. Yeah, I like Kira but not Light IYKWIM. And Near and Mello are awesome. And love Matsuda. I prefer those two in the manga, but L in the anime. Funny, thoughtful, tense and oh-so-clever...wicked music too.

Also recently saw Casshern movie. Wow, just wow. I never thought it would be possible to actually create a film from manga. it's amazing, so beautiful, and powerful, and thought-provoking, and visual...nothing bad about it. Also I looove the sorta bad guy who laughs when the guy dies. He is so cool.

Anyway, I'm not available right now, but if you leave a message after the tone, I'll get back to you *beeeep*

  • Mood: Content
  • Listening to: Avenged Sevenfold
  • Reading: Labyrinth- Kate Mosse...sorta
  • Watching: computer screen ^^
  • Playing: Kichiku megane LOL awesome

Dark Knight and others...

Batman seen twice so far.
ZOMG how stunning was Heath Ledger's performance?! I was watching Brokeback mountian not long ago and if I hadn't known he was the joker I...well...wouldn't have known he was the joker. The voice and mannerisms... GAWD the bad guy is ALWAYS the best character, does anyone else find?!
As for the rest of the film the effects were goooood, everything exploded, yayz! But I couldn't hear half of what was going on, the music was so loud; and couldn't see what was going on either, in that big fight in the tall building near the end...
Apart from those minor but major faults, it was a very good film, quite deep, and I doubt too many people will understand it, it was a bit long.
I saw two face coming and I thought it might have been batman 3 at first, but NO... it went oooon.
The joker rocked. Hee hee the magic pencil GENIUS(the whole cinema went "whoa!" then laughed)!! And the nurse loljk
Ooooo, and when Baman dropped that guy on his legs, everyone (+ me) winced. Ouch!!

Overall, I would say (standing by itself) 7.5/10, but it can't compare to Batman Begins so with that in mind --> 5.5/10.

And Kung Fu Panda OMG there is nothing wrong with that film!! Hilarious and the action sequences were awesome! (Tai Lung's escape *died*!!) 9/10.

Mamma Mia was brilliant too. Really not my type of film but went with mum, and because it's so deliberately cheesy, I cannot find a single falut with it. Hilarious and sad, beautiful setting and great storyline, superb cast and awesome songs (ABBA ftw!)
It was, for me, the perfect film to see with my mum because it can be enjoyed by all ages, and also because my mum raised me alone too, so the plot and the sad song were all so appropriate. 9 maybe 9.5/10.

Would definately recommend all three.

Best film of the year so far= Funny Games U.S. Agree?

p.s. I've seen pretty much every film that comes into british cinema so if anyone fancies a debate about a film, then drop me a comment sometime...

I'm in a sunshine kid mood for some odd reason to day so bear with me..Happy new year everyone, hope it's going well so far, tell me about it.
Woo, was it really August last time I looked at the journal...OMG, not like it matters though, no one sees it anyway...
Soooo bored, if ever anyone EVER EVER EVER wants a random ethical or even completely RANDOM discussion about something, anything, please come to me with a comment.
Anyway, anyone who may happen across this journal entry, hi! Tell me how your life is going please, I don't like to just talk; I'm a listener. Besides it's nice to share feelings and time with people. The key to happiness is kindness. Think of me as your DA psychaiatrist. Or don't, whichever works. So...

"How are you doing?"

Help spread the love people!! :D

Whoa, how RETARDED DO I SOUND..?!

It's drizzling where I am at the moment, at the back of the warm front
Isn't the rain so refreshing, especially with the biting winds...

Wow, I am Legend, who's seen it? is it not awesome?! And I am sooooo depressed that Sweeney Todd's an 18!!! Me and my friends spent our whole lunchbreak trying to think of how to sneak in...lol.

Just done my first A level exams in chemistry and biology, and got RE in 2 days time; so how am I spending my revision time? On DA!!! Yay! Seriously, DA's so distracting, and addictive. Same with LJ, those who have it will know that once you go in...you never come out...like Wikipedia...
